How will a Psychologist Help Me?

A psychologist can help you in many ways using Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is a common and effective treatment method.

Here’s how:

  • Identify Problems: Help you recognize the issues causing stress or unhappiness.

  • Change Thought Patterns: Teach you how to challenge and change negative thoughts.

  • Develop Coping Strategies: Provide tools to manage stress, anxiety, and other emotions.

  • Improve Behaviours: Guide you to replace unhealthy habits with positive ones.

  • Set Goals: Assist you in setting and achieving personal and mental health goals.

  • Monitor Progress: Track your improvements and adjust strategies as needed.

We'll identify what's causing your stress, change negative thoughts, and develop coping strategies. Together, we'll replace bad habits with healthier ones, set personal goals, and track your progress. By working with one of our amazing psychologists, you’ll learn practical ways to handle your personal struggles and get to a point where you are feeling so much better.

What is a Psychologist?

Psychologists are registered through the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO) and are trained in assessing, treating, and preventing behavioural and mental conditions. They diagnose brain disorders. These include psychotic, neurotic, and personality disorders. They also diagnose dysfunctions. Psychologists use many approaches to help people. They can help with people's physical, mental, emotional, social, and people skills.

Psychologists focus on specific areas. These include clinical psychology or counselling psychology. Also, they can focus on neuropsychology, school psychology, correctional or forensic psychology. There is also health psychology, rehabilitation psychology, and industrial and organizational psychology.

In these areas, a Psychologist may work with various client groups. These include children, adolescents, adults, or seniors. They may also focus on families, couples, or organizations. They work in many settings. These include schools, hospitals, industry, and social service agencies. They also work in rehabilitation and correctional facilities.
